I bought a new PC, it came with W 7 Home Premium, I had previously had XP and I also had a laptop with VISTA (Vista was the WORST excuse of an OS I have seen and I have used Windows since ver.3)
W 7 was a dream come true in it's usability and so on, all was working fine till about 2 weeks ago when things started to go pear shaped, my taskbar refused to autohide, regardless of what I ticked or unticked, looking through here I realised that MS are
passing out the BS again, why I say that is that the replies are like snatching at straws, (try this and see if it works! try that and see if it works!)
I noticed that all this started to happen after my Automatic Updates installed a few things, now I know I could have gone back to a previous restore point, but I figured it would only get updated again and Which Update was it that was the culprit?
The other thing that is happening is that some programs that are supposed to start with Windows no longer autostart and I have to start them manually, in which case they run perfectly normally until next reboot then I have restart them manually again.
SOLUTION (of sorts, for the auho hide at least)
I was becoming really frustrated with not seeing the bottom of panes so I thought, what if I change the screen resolution?
I did, immediately the taskbar hid itself and continued to work, I then restored the screen size to what I always had it at, viola, the taskbar still continued to autohide.
This was a few moments ago so I have yet to reboot and see if it still works?
I wonder if it will also allow the autostart to work too?
So all of you people that are having the problem, post back here and let me know if you solved the problem using this tip!
I would also love to know a solution to the autostart problem?
Regards.
