Hello Lythria,

Thank you for posting.  Are you referring to the list of recently run programs that appears when you click on the Start button or do you mean that when you click Start, then click All Programs there is nothing listed there?  Which version of Windows 7 RC are you using?  If you are missing the list of recently opened programs follow these steps to ensure that the settings are correct for the Start Menu.

1.     Right click on the Start Button

2.     Click Properties

3.     In the Task Bar and Start Menu Properties window click “customize”

4.     Click on the “Use Default Settings” button

5.     Click “Ok”

6.     Click “Apply”

7.     Open a program or two and ensure that the icons for these programs are showing in the recently opened items.

If this does not resolve your problem please let us know in your response.

Thanks,

Jack

hello i find a solution, it was an error from your uninstaller program 2010.

open your unistaller 2010 if you have it installed.. click on start menu all users and uncheck all boxes... that should fix the problem.

if it dont......

go to control panel...folder options....click view .....check the box showhidden files.....

go to c:\program data/microsoft/windows/start menu... if start menu folder is like clear .....right click properties...general..unckeck hiden...ok that should fix the problem too...  make sure go back and hide folders again ...... good luck guys....

My problem is step 2, no one at all was in the list.  However when I selected the user and administrator and clicked apply, I got a message that the access control list structure is invalid.  No changes could be made at all regarding permissions.

Do you have any idea on what to do next?

hi guys this problem is due to windows ACL , look at the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and see if the programs ACL has appropriate security options:

1-right click on programs go to the security tab and check group and user names. it should have system and at least the user you are logged on, but the default is : Everyone & system and the administrator .

2-if you don't see any users, this is the case!! you should add the users by clicking on edit tab and add proper users then you should set the appropriate permissions which is in the following step

3-set the permissions, the permissions of the system and administrator are the same and is full but the everyone permission has to be just for (read&execute&list folder contents&read)

    then apply

4-go to the advanced tab>change permissions and check the replace all child object permissions ..... and then apply and then OK ,

    it is finished,enjoy it

Please do this press Windows Logo and R together to activate 'Run' dialog box. Type "cmd" on it to run command prompt. Now type "attrib -h /s /d" and hit enter

    attrib -h /s /d

    -h Unhide Hidden file attribute.

/s Processes files in all directories in the specified path.

    /d Process folders as well
