How can I convert my USB memory stick from EXFAT to NTFS? It's not letting me format it to NTFS.

Hi there,

I have bought 64GB USB Memory Stick. But I am not able to format this drive into NTFS file system. I have got Windows 7 operating system. It is only allowing me to formate it into EXFAT only. Because of non NTFS file system i am not able to copy bigger than 2GB file. Even sometimes if i copy the whole folder still nothing gets copy in it. Only the folder name.

I have tried different partition softwares to formate it into NTFS but still no louck atall. Even i tried to make partition of 8GB but still no luck.

So, is there any other way that i can formate my memory stick into NTFS file system.

Please help for this problem. I am looking for the solution since last 3 months.

    I had this issue. I did as mentioned above. Device Properties, Policies, and changed to Performance but unchecked Cache option.

    Then in command prompt I used the command: :>format E: /fs:ntfs

    worked for me.::

    :>format E: /fs:ntfs

    Insert new disk for drive E:

    and press ENTER when ready...

    The type of the file system is EXFAT.

    The new file system is NTFS.

    Verifying 61050M

    Volume label (ENTER for none)?

    Creating file system structures.

    Format complete.

      62515820 KB total disk space.

      62448168 KB are available.

    worked for me nice one   :))))

    I had exactly the same issue with a 2TB hard drive and nothing seemed to work.  I hooked up my 2TB hard drive as an external e-sata hard drive with an e-sata cable and it actually accepted a quick format with Windows 7.  I then hooked it back up with a USB cable and it continued to work with USB also....  Good luck to all.......

    Change 'Format' with Convert

    that will do it for you

    The right choice is: my computer>right click on usb device>properties>hardware>properties>change settings(need administrator rights)>policies>change from fast removal to better performance.

    After this steps in the format menu ntfs should work and appear.

    I realize your question is from a long time ago, but I am currently having this SAME problem and I can't find a solution ANYWHERE...so I was wondering if you found an answer. And if so, if you would be willing to share the sollution please
