Today I started getting network error code 0x80041004 while trying to play internet checkers. What is this error code and how do I fix it?

Problem solved. Yeay, I can now play Internet backgammon after days of torture. I use Win 7. Clear the SSL State by following these steps.
a. Press the Windows Key and the R key simultaneously to get the Run prompt.
b. In the Run prompt, type inetcpl.cpl and press enter.
c. In the Internet Properties window, click on the Content tab.
d. Click on Clear SSL State.

I appreciate your suggestion - which may be helpful in a corrupted SSL state.
But in the current case, error 0x80041004 was just a simple game server connection issue. I was notified this morning about the posts given above. My short test on a Windows 7 production machine shows, that MS Internet games are working again - whitout any further interaction - a kind of voodoo. Or some Microsoft supporter hit the reset button on a game server ;-) - cheers.

- Log into IE
- Click on the "Tools"
- Click "Internet Options"
- Click the "Security" tab
- Click on "Local Intranet"
- Click on "Sites"
- Click on "Advanced"
- Click on "Add"
- Type in "Adance"
- Save changes.
What is Adance? Why does this solve the problem?

I just read what SSL State is supposed to be and I don't understand why this worked. Do you know why? There are other people that have fixes but I have never had one that worked before.
