I have all but given up attempting to run backups in Windows 7. Very discouraging.

You and several million others. Tried all the suggestions with only limited and temporary results. To rub my nose in it, Windows 10 prompts are unforgivable. Let me know if you hear of a class action on this.

    Hi John

Got as far as Tasks but found 10 different task*** folders one of which is taskkill, some of which I can't open even when I 'run as administrator'

Thanks David, but a bit too technical for me, as I'm not too sure where to start or how to 're-configure'

    1. cd %windir%\system32\tasks\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsBackup
    2. del AutomaticBackup
    3. del "Windows Backup Monitor"
    4. Try to re-configure file backup

This absolutely worked for me after windows 10 fiasco and return to win7

    thank you!
