Hi,

I believe the backup task that you have got corrupted somehow and is causing this issue.

I suggest you try the following:

1. Go to task scheduler (run taskschd.msc from RUN dialog OR from a command-prompt)
2. Navigate under Task Scheduler Library->Microsoft->Windows->WindowsBackup folder
3. Delete AutomaticBackup task
4. Delete Windows Backup Monitor task
5. Try to re-configure file backup

In case you do not find these tasks in task scheduler UI, suggest doing the following:

1. Open an elevated command-prompt
2. cd %windir%\system32\tasks\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsBackup
3. del AutomaticBackup
4. del "Windows Backup Monitor"
5. Try to re-configure file backup

Let us know if either of these workarounds was helpful.

Regards.

Sreekanth.

Sept 29, 2015

After restoring Windows 7 I got the error message also. I tried your advice and got another error message for the Task Scheduler.

So I tried another way suggested and combined both recommendations.

Thought I’d pass it along in case it can help someone else.

Here’s what worked for me.

Go to Computer

Access OS (C:)

Click on Windows

Open System 32

Click on Tasks

Open Microsoft

Click Windows

Open WindowsBackup folder.****Delete Automatic Backup

Delete Windows Backup Monitor task.

Go back to the Control Panel

Click on Back up your computer.

At this point my computer opened up the Backup and Restore and let me create a new backup.

No error messages to be seen.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Head over to this site. They deal with the "Access denied" issue:

http://www.windowsxpregistrycleaner.com/0x80041321-error-win7-system.html

In case you do not find these tasks in task scheduler, I would suggest you to follow the steps below:

1. Click on Start; in the start search type cmd.

2. Right click on cmd.exe and “Run as administrator

3.

cd %windir%\system32\tasks\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsBackup

del AutomaticBackup

del "Windows Backup Monitor"

4. Restart the backup again by opening “Backup and restore center” from the Control Panel”.

I also get the corrupt task message when I try to run task scheduler.

The program let me run a complete backup but it will not save the settings to let me do my automatic backup

Hi,

I have tried the above, and deleted as per instructions.

But I too still get the same error message the Image is corrupted etc, I did not delete all exept the configuration settings.

I thaught if I deleted that, I would not be able to configure the back up.

Should I have deleted that as well? if not doe youy have any other ideas.

Thanks
