Hi Jimmy S.C.,

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Forum.

As with any database, information that is stored in the database or the database itself can become corrupted. The Windows Media Player library database can usually recover automatically from database corruption. However, the database may become corrupted in such a way that Windows Media Player cannot recover the database.

   1. Click Start , click Run , type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player , and then click OK .

   2. Select all the files in the folder , and then click Delete on the File menu.

Note You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

   3. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files . To do this, follow these steps:

If you are running Windows 7/Vista, click Start , click

Run , type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft , and then click OK.

Select the Media Player folder , and then click Delete on the

File menu.

Restart Windows Media Player .

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Hope it helped

Laura, to stop the WMP Network Sharing Service, go to Start, type services.msc in the Search field, and press Enter. In Services, find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is Started , double-click the service and click  Stop . Does that help?

MusicmanTS: are you running WMP 12 on Windows 7? If so, please go to Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the Search field, and press Enter. Does that work?

Help!  only month old computer, just started having problems with streaming the movies, keeps stopping, loading, so slow.  not internet problem.  says media library corrupted.  I have windows 7 home premium, don't have "run" button to click from the start button, can't figure out the instructions, not very computer saavy.  So I tried the other link posted for microsoft "fix it" , went through it all says it fixed it , but same problem.  On my computer after restarting etc. still says media library is corrupted, so dont know how to fix or why microsoft fix it wizard says it fixed it when it didn't.\

    so frustrated!

Well I think I may have succeeded at your instructions, but i went back to try the videos on  my netflix and it continues to be super slow and after only a few minutes, the movie stops, bar pops up on the screen and says loading.  I have been watching movies on netflix for over a month on this laptop with NO problems streaming until now. :(

Don't know what else to do.  Also when this problem starting, for the first time I got some msgs that said internet explorer not working, but that hasnt happened often, just the streaming video problems mainly
