Hi Jimmy S.C.,

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Forum.

As with any database, information that is stored in the database or the database itself can become corrupted. The Windows Media Player library database can usually recover automatically from database corruption. However, the database may become corrupted in such a way that Windows Media Player cannot recover the database.

   1. Click Start , click Run , type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player , and then click OK .

   2. Select all the files in the folder , and then click Delete on the File menu.

Note You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

   3. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files . To do this, follow these steps:

If you are running Windows 7/Vista, click Start , click

Run , type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft , and then click OK.

Select the Media Player folder , and then click Delete on the

File menu.

Restart Windows Media Player .

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Hope it helped

Laura, to stop the WMP Network Sharing Service, go to Start, type services.msc in the Search field, and press Enter. In Services, find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is Started , double-click the service and click  Stop . Does that help?

Nothing works.  Microsoft is such $$$$$t that you can't even uninstall WMP and revert to WMP 11.

The Microsoft web site says wmp 11 is not compatible with windows 7 .  I run 64 bits.  The system worked fine until three days ago.

I ran both WMA trouble shooters.  The wma troubleshooter fixed some problems.  The troubleshooter for the library says it is corrupted.  The answer here and online are similar and don't work.

Why should I have to do a clean install (and download a million updates) to get something to work.

Apparently Microsoft doesn't care to address the problem.
