How do I add search filters?

When trying to search I click in the search field in my file explorer window. I see "Add a search filter" and a couple options below that "Date Modified" &  "Size" that I can select. How do I add more "clickable" search filters? I can only select those two filters. How do I add more to select?

Hello and thank you for your question.

In the explorer search window, you can click on those options you mentioned like “Date Modified” or “Size” to give you a list of even more refined options. For example, if you are in your music folder:

Without clearing the Search box, click Genre in the list of filters, and then click Jazz from the list of dynamic values. Windows Explorer adds Genre to the existing Length filter, allowing you to refine your search further.

    Hi,  (Excuse my poor english ;-(  )

    don't use the searchbar in Explorer

    Use Start and press F3 and you will ever have the following 4 options

    Kind, Date Modified, Type and Size

    You can see my "french" search Windows here

    You don't have to learn or know the syntax.  It's really easier than it may appear on the surface.

    Instead of trying to figure out the syntax, simply type what you're looking for.  If you want to search a specific type of info (like Author or Date, anything that used to be in the Advanced pane), it appears for you.  Simply click it and you're done.

    In this picture below, I didn't have to type any of that, I just clicked "Add a search filter".  It's the same options from Windows 7, but now they're blue links instead of a big bunch of text boxes.

    Has anyone figured out how to expand the "search filters" line to access other filters besides "date modified" and "size"?  I don't see any answers in the thread.  Thanks.

    I tried to enlarge the search box, but it did nothing to "un-gray" the "Add a Search Filter" line in  the drop down (I actually have a screen shot in .pdf so you can visually see the problem, but I don't know how to append it to this message).  Does this mean that I am stuck trying to find the codewords to define the search (e.g., "title:xxxx")?  The old XP search feature was much easier to use.

    Wow after all the experts above missed the mark on a very clearly stated issue (No additional Search terms available), along comes a guy that truly helps to answer the question.

    Pressing F3 when in the Start menu does  pull up a search window with all the additional missing Search filters.

    Like others have described these search filters are missing from the search field at the top of a Windows Explorer window ... No matter how wide you pull the search term field!  The "Add a search filter" was greyed out with no additional options.

    I was looking only for Folders with the keyword in it.

    I ended up typing in "type: File Folder" to get my results. "type" should have been a clickable option.

    My OS is Win 7 Pro, 64bit.
