HI - I just got a new PC with Windows 7. It's an HP Pavillion Slimline with 3GB Memory and an Intel duo core processor. I'm finding that when I play MP3s or WMAs via Windows Media Player that the sound crackles (sounds like static) when I browse the Internet using IE8. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated on how to fix this annoying issue.

edit: Atheros 928X causes high DPC latency at times, but I don't see or hear any effect
For those who have laptops, FYI, I've found one thing aside from the Atheros wireless card on my laptop that was creating DPC latency, and that was the ACPI Battery Control, which can be disabled in Device Manager, under batteries.
Add me to the list of people having this same problem.
My laptop is a VAIO FW-290 originally with Vista, now with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
I thought it started happening when I installed an optional update for Windows Media Center, but reading though the thread, it seems like this is not the problem... Besides, I don't know how to uninstall a windows update without doing a system restore to a month ago.
I already have tried disabling sound effects, SRS WOW to no avail. Though the sound is a little less annoying without those features. The sound crackles/flickers/pops (whatever you want to call it) with WMP, Windows Media Center, Quicken, IE8, Firefox, and inside XP Mode (this is more like skipping) in any combination of media players and browser.

Doubt that my driver was updated before this problem started happening (maybe I just didn't notice, because the sound crack/flicker is really subtle), but I guess giving this a try wouldn't hurt.

I just bought a DELL XPS 9000 (Intel i7, 920), with Windows 7 64 bit, My sound card is a TC Electronics Konnekt 24D (Firewire). When I use the ASIO driver the sound is OK (I bought this PC to replace a 5 years old PC that I use for music composition). My problem is just when Streaming audio online, whenever I try to Listen music online, the sound starts to cracle so bad that I have to stop playing, it happens with any browser and is just driving me nuts, I have to use another computer to check my songs online. I tried so many things that I already gave up. Well at least I can Make my songs, also I use Sony Sound Forge for Mastrering and it sounds ok. Well at least I know I'm not alone, joyning the club.

I've tried disabling various CPU power saving options from the BIOS and I eventually found one that fixed the problem. Disabling EIST drops the latency to more normal levels(<120us) and no spikes.
I'm afraid this workaround is unusable for notebooks since they don't have that many options in BIOS but I'm sure desktop users will find it useful.
Anyone else have any success? I just downloaded Realtek's driver update of 6/8/10 and my sound still pops/crackles.
