I cannot download pictures from my iphone to my PC. The PC recognizes itunes and syncs with the iphone. However, the pc does not recognize the iphone as an external device (i.e. camera).  Therefore, I do not see the iphone under the computer as a device options. Also, I checked the settings on autoload and they are correct, however the PC still does not recognize nor does it autoload the Iphone. I spoke with apple tech support and they said it is not a problem with the iphone but instead it is a problem with Microsoft. can you please help me?

Hi Byron R.

Thank you for using Microsoft Answers Forums!

1.       Were you able to download pictures from Iphone earlier?

2.       Any recent changes made on your computer?

3.       Are you getting any error while downloading pictures?

You may try this method.

If you click start and within the start search type auto play you then should see auto play populate under programs select auto play.

Once in Auto play scroll down to Devices and see if you see your Iphone within devices click the drop down box and set to import pictures using windows then click ok then plug you Iphone and see if it lets you import.

Also if you want it to ask you what action you want to take whenever you plug in your Iphone just select "ask me every time" from the Auto play.

The Iphone will not transfer photos to your computer if the device is locked and you are using a pass code. If you want to transfer photos, simply unlock (Slide to unlock and enter pass code) your device to transfer photos.

Note: Plug the Iphone to your computer in unlocked mode.

For more information on importing pictures refer  to this link:

This is the solution!  Worked great for me.  The only thing is that people are blaming Windows.  I think that this is not an issue with windows because I don't use Windows exclusively.  My Ubuntu also had the same issue as well.  The phone just would not come up with some pictures I had saved via email created in Photoshop.  Thank you much!

Solution works for VISTA, XP and Ubunutu Linux 9.10 and 10.04.  Windows problem, I think not!  iPhone problem

Hi, I recommend an iPod to computer iTunes transfer software.

It can help you copy songs videos photos playlists from iPod to computer or iTunes in a couple of clicks. If you own more than one iPods, it can simultaneously manage all the iPods in the same interface, you may transfer files among these iPods by drag-and-drop.

    Hope it helpful for you.
