I cannot download pictures from my iphone to my PC.

I doubt it's really a Windows problem. It's more likely an iOS problem of which there are many. My iPhone 4S is recognized by my computers and iPhone 6 Plus which used to be recognized, is not. The only difference is I updated the iPhone 6 Plus and not the 4S. The last test was to try the 6 Plus on my Vista computer and it does not show up there either. According to Apple, the only thing that can be done is to reset the entire phone, wiping everything out. I can't do that and am sure that will not work since I recently had my 6 Plus replaced and the same problem exists. Apple techs have various different explanations including telling me they are not told what to do about new complaints with each iOS version. They learn with the customers.  Apple charges a lot for the iPhone and Apple Care support and does not deliver. They change versions of iOS quicker than you know because every version brings more problems.  They are so out of touch at Apple they will even take responsibility for things not their fault. When my WiFi would not work for a while, I read something about it being iOS problem. I did check with Comcast who lied and said my WiFi was fine. I even was given by Verizon a new iPhone and the problem was the same. Yet Apple quickly, when asked, said there are iOS WiFi problems. Not so as it turned out when I insisted Comcast replace the WiFi modem, all those problems went away and have never come back. Apple needs to get a grip and treat people with honesty and information about what really is going on.

Thanks for reminding me. I've been told almost all photo problems with Apple are due to corrupt file (photo). The problem is I have over 24,000 pictures on the iPhone so it's not easy to figure out where to even start with deleting photos. Probably more than half of them are from online or various apps.  I do have one WiFi transfer app that will do it but it must be done frequently to stay up to date or else the number of photos even in zip file will take too long over WiFi app. If just iCloud for Windows worked as promised, it would be enough. That's another Apple mess and it's not just a file because I had it installed several years ago and it nearly took over everything in my PC. This time it downloaded most pictures but never all and then it stopped. Restarting it caused all the pictures on iCloud to be downloaded to my PC 3 and 4 times which nearly caused the PC to stop. You need a minimum amount of space on the drive and iCloud for Windows filled up hundreds of GB with duplicates. I tried to adjust it and now it will not do anything.  Since Apple continuously restricts third party programs from accessing parts of iPhone, everyone becomes more and more dependent on iCloud and iTunes. if that's the way they want it, they should get their act together and make both reliable program which they are not now and have never been in the 16 years I've used a computer.

OMFG!! SAMETHING HAPPENED TO ME!!!

at first my itunes would be able to sync but my pc would not reconize or autoplay as it used to..

afther spending countless hours of reading blogs&FAQS and trying to fixx it...i started messing around a bit with the device manager i ended up deleting the apple USB drive....then my itunes wouldnt even recognize it!!!

and i tired uninstalling/reinstalling it to fix it but it didnt work.......now not being able to sync my phone i decided to call it in...before i went to go buymyself a mac...(tired of pc)

...after talking for about an hour with the helpful people at apple, they finally helped me get it working again...

....it turns out..that this whole time...the reason why it didnt sync....is actually because of a CORRUPT picture in my "camrea ROLL!!!!!"

it seems that when you copy pictures of the internet or threw MMS or email...that it sometimes corrupts! thus my PC didnt recognize it..

SO DELETE THOSE PICTURES!!!!!

Like most explanations it goes straight into the tecchie stuff without explaining the overall principle. I find this sometimes misleading and it takes ages to find the one comment that clarifies everything.

In this case, most people will be trying to "see" the photo files either through iTunes or Windows explorer. That's the starting point.

In fact neither of these are supposed to work. The long-winded way is to email the photos to yourself from the iPhone, but connecting the phone to the PC by USB is quicker and easier.

Windows will recognise the iPhone as a device but it must be connected when the phone is in an "unlocked"state. (It's screen is open after entering the passcode.)

Although Windows has now recognised the iPhone, it isn't listed anywhere obvious (except in iTunes, if installed, which isn't what you want anyway.)

The process of transferring the photos is to open a Windows program that handles photos (jpg, img &tc files) and go to the main options (usual under the "FILE" menu) and select "IMPORT" it's there you will find an option as to which device you want to import from, and it is there that you can select your iPhone. The rest is a simple process led by the program options themselves.
