I cannot download pictures from my iphone to my PC. The PC recognizes itunes and syncs with the iphone. However, the pc does not recognize the iphone as an external device (i.e. camera).  Therefore, I do not see the iphone under the computer as a device options. Also, I checked the settings on autoload and they are correct, however the PC still does not recognize nor does it autoload the Iphone. I spoke with apple tech support and they said it is not a problem with the iphone but instead it is a problem with Microsoft. can you please help me?

Hi Byron R.

Thank you for using Microsoft Answers Forums!

1.       Were you able to download pictures from Iphone earlier?

2.       Any recent changes made on your computer?

3.       Are you getting any error while downloading pictures?

You may try this method.

If you click start and within the start search type auto play you then should see auto play populate under programs select auto play.

Once in Auto play scroll down to Devices and see if you see your Iphone within devices click the drop down box and set to import pictures using windows then click ok then plug you Iphone and see if it lets you import.

Also if you want it to ask you what action you want to take whenever you plug in your Iphone just select "ask me every time" from the Auto play.

The Iphone will not transfer photos to your computer if the device is locked and you are using a pass code. If you want to transfer photos, simply unlock (Slide to unlock and enter pass code) your device to transfer photos.

Note: Plug the Iphone to your computer in unlocked mode.

For more information on importing pictures refer  to this link:

I noticed today while trying to upload pictures from my iphone, when I connect to my PC, itunes immediately recognizes my iphone, but window 7 will not recognize the device. When I try to access the files via "Computer" its not even listed as a connected device, even though itunes says it is. Normally, autoplay will come up the same time itunes launches. Reinstalled itunes and the device driver.

Now grabbed my wife's iphone, plugged it in, the computer recognizes the device as does itunes.

So whats the deal with mine? We're both running Version 3.1.3(7E18)

Can somone please help, I would like to upload my pictures and there are way to many to send by email

Same thing happened to me.  This is the answer.  Just get rid of those pics that you didn't actually take using the iPhone camera.  then Windows will recognize the iPhone as a 'Camera Device'!

    OMFG!! SAMETHING HAPPENED TO ME!!!

at first my itunes would be able to sync but my pc would not reconize or autoplay as it used to..

afther spending countless hours of reading blogs&FAQS and trying to fixx it...i started messing around a bit with the device manager i ended up deleting the apple USB drive....then my itunes wouldnt even recognize it!!!

and i tired uninstalling/reinstalling it to fix it but it didnt work.......now not being able to sync my phone i decided to call it in...before i went to go buymyself a mac...(tired of pc)

...after talking for about an hour with the helpful people at apple, they finally helped me get it working again...

....it turns out..that this whole time...the reason why it didnt sync....is actually because of a CORRUPT picture in my "camrea ROLL!!!!!"

it seems that when you copy pictures of the internet or threw MMS or email...that it sometimes corrupts! thus my PC didnt recognize it..

    SO DELETE THOSE PICTURES!!!!!

..ive read tons of blogs like this...and seeing alot of other people are effected by this same problem....

    ...i hope this helps... ;]

    Uma,

I tried the above method without any success.  The first time I tried to download pictures from my iphone to the pc.... it worked.  Process was simple.  I plugged the iphone on the PC.  Then I went to my computers and found the iphone icon.  I clicked on the iphone icon and I found a folder labeled DMC (or something like that).  I clicked on that folder and saw all the pictures I had taken with the iphone.  Then I copied and pasted the pics onto a folder on my pc.

Now the problem is that I can not see the iphone icon under my computer option.  When I plut the iphone on the computer, it works and syncs with iTunes.  This still works; however, to download pictures taken on the iPhone, I need to open the icon under my computer option.  The latter no longer works.

The technicians at Apple said the problem is related to the MS operating system not to Apple.  I have windows vista.  Can you please help me find a solution?  The solution you provided did not solve the problem.

    Thanks,

    Byron.
