Windows Media Player 12: Always show list
Hi everyone,
I recently updated my computer to Windows 7.
When I was on XP, the list pane of WMP 11 was always displayed in the right part of the screen (except in full screen mode).
Now on WMP 12, I have to manually right-click and choose "Show list" each time I open WMPand each time a new video starts .
Could you tell me how to permanently display the list pane ?

There is no way to get or save the "list pane" in Windows Media Player 12. You must create a playlist to see your play list pane.
I've been playing around with this for hours trying to get the same thing your tyring to get. Microsoft has changed alot in version Windows Media Player 12. The last version of windows media player 11 is the only version that can show the playing list pane.
G80, do you work for Microsoft? Because you sound like one of the toolbags that created Windows 7. Reinstalling Windows 7 does not fix anything. This is a problem with Windows Media Player 12. If you actually think that your list always shows, even when you click on an individual video file at startup, you obviously are wrong and do not understand what this whole thread is about.
Not only can you not get the list pane to show, but another annoying thing is how you have to right click and go to full screen every time you click on a new video file. In previous version WMP would remember the way you had your last video set and would open it in full screen if that's the way you always open your videos. But leave it to Microsoft to take something that was working perfectly fine and screw it up.

No I am not workin for microsoft, you will know that if you read the whole tread. If you dont want to reinstall windows then you can wait for microsoft to fix it if they want to. What else can I say.
Can those who are saying that reinstalling win7 will fix this problem explain why it would work. It doesnt make sense to me. If it didn't work on the initial install, why would using the same install dvd make a difference?
This is the best fix so far :
You fix this if you right click on the left most are of WMP main area, and tick/check "Always show Now Playing on top". This DOES fix the problem, but this also makes WMP permanently sit on top of all other windows. I dont like that. If I click on Explorer below WMP, then that mean I frikkin want Explorer to come up over WMP. I dont know why MS added this. BUT.... by adjusting the WMP screen size, I can get it to be less annoying. But most importatly, the issue that this thread is about can be fixed. Now when you play videos, the list pane does return for music (most of the time ! occassionaly it still dissappears)
WMP12 is almost perfect. It lacks support for FLVs and MKVs, but it`s biggest problem is that you can NOT pin the "show list" pane.
ARrgggggghhh!!!!!! %$^# Microsoft. When you do schitt things like this, you deserve to have Apple get the success it has. You have the world at your feet, and you keep shooting those feet.
