Windows Media Player 12: Always show list

Hi everyone,

I recently updated my computer to Windows 7.

When I was on XP, the list pane of WMP 11 was always displayed in the right part of the screen (except in full screen mode).

Now on WMP 12, I have to manually right-click and choose "Show list" each time I open WMPand each time a new video starts .

Could you tell me how to permanently display the list pane ?

Thank you

Regards,

Phil

There is no way to get or save the "list pane" in Windows Media Player 12. You must create a playlist to see your play list pane.

I've been playing around with this for hours trying to get the same thing your tyring to get.  Microsoft has changed alot in version Windows Media Player 12. The last version of windows media player 11 is the only version that can show the playing list pane.

I just got a new notebook with Win7 and WMP 12 and had the issue where I would select show list on the now playing screen and it would appear, then when I skipped a song it would automatically hide.  I also had an issue where I had selected any of the pre-installed visualizations and it would work fine but when I restart WMP it would only show me album art even though if I checked the settings the same visualization was still selected.

Out of frustration I downloaded and installed a new visualization from MS at  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-media-player/visualizations for reasons that I do not understand this solved all of my problems.  The list pane is visible no matter what I do and when I close and reopen WMP it is already on screen and my new visualization works fine as well.  (I selected pulsing colors in case it matters, I am scared to do anything else as I am afraid the problem will return)

Others seemed focused on the video side, I don't use WMP for video's so I couldn't say if it works on that or not but if you have problems with MP3's maybe it's something to try.

Thanks for answering whatever question you answered here but this isn't the problem people posting here are having - as usual MS policy, the question was a math question and your answer was a color.

All of the normal options as mentioned above regarding Organize → Layout → etc. but to get this to work I also did the following:

→ play video in your playlist or start playing playlist to populate in sidebar

→ right-click anywhere on playing video

    → Video

→ make sure both are checked:

√ Fit Player to Video on Resize

√ Fit Player to Video (this has to be checked for this to work)

    → right-click and Show List

→ test by clicking through each selection.

If list closes, just close WMP 12 and re-open and it should work. Now if I could only get rid of that rating column.

this appears to be the correct solution , might i add 'fit player to video' button is probably miss labeled and works backwards to its intended labeling or what the words mean , because lets face it , microsoft ppl are often idiots , logically ,' fitting a player to the video' would eliminate the list pane and not keep it , in the english language anyhow, i am still trying to figure out microspeak and i am a highlevel genius

thanks minty fressh , i had mine working correctly yesterday , then wasted a good hour trying to figure out what i did yesterday and why today its doing microstupid(microspeak) ____
