Windows Media Player 12: How to permanently display the list pane

I've been following this thread, desperately trying to find a solution for this issue. I too want to be able to see what file I'm going to play next in my playlist when watching music videos or, If I have a playlist of movies, the same thing. It is really weird to have to keep right clicking on show list to see what video i'm going to play next, select it, it's not the one I thought it was, so I have to keep right clicking to show list everytime I want to see what in my playlist I want to play next. I am also not understanding why this cannot be fixed. It is, I think, a bug, as well. It didn't work when I first installed win7 and wmp12, then I did have to reinstall for another reason and it did work for a little while, then stopped again. But with audio, it is consistent. It seems that when a video ends, it auto-hides the playlist pane, probably thinking we dont want to see the list while a video is playing. But let's make that an option. I can always uncheck show list anyway, but If I have always show list ON as an option, which I don't see anyway to do, then this is unacceptable for how I view my media. I'm a musician, and I'm always looking at tech videos to help me through some music software program or other.  I need to see the list, so that as I get the answer I'm looking for in one video, I can logically go to the next video in the playlist that makes sense, since it will not always be listed in the order needed for the task at hand. I think this is for me an important enough issue that I may need to seek another media player. wmp11 had this function, wmp 12 should have it, thinks it has it (i think) but isn't consistent. Even users who have had success with it are divided on the fix. As far as reinstalling win7 to fix it, that is completely unacceptable, as I work on my computer 20 hours a day and it would take me at least a day to reinstall all the applications that I have, many of which are unavailable to download again. I dont' have that kind of time to invest in that. So that solution is not viable. And as I have reinstalled it before, it's not even a consistent solution.

PLEASE HELP ON THIS ISSUE!!!!

2. About the problem with "allways show list" in "now playing mode" when you are playing videos. As I wrote before its a kind of a bug, because its not a problem every users have. Maybe that explains why supporters dont understand this thread. Anyway I have this problem before and now I have reinstalled windows 7 and the problem is gone. But...

When I open my video music playlist then I still have to click on "show list", but after that when I trackin around the videos the List still showing....

As you said, the problem with the "always show list" in now playing mode is a bug.  What people are asking is for Microsoft to fix that bug.

By re-installing Windows 7, you are just re-installing that same bug.  It doesn't fix the problem.  It may have worked for you, due to some other configuration change you may have made during the re-install, but that doesn't mean that it will fix the problem for everybody.

Re-installing the operating system of your computer can be a complex and time-consuming process, especially if you will also have to re-install all the application programs that you use, and restore all your data from a backup.  It is not worth doing that process, just to fix windows media player, especially when there is no guarantee, and most likely will not work to fix the problem.

You are absolutely right. But... First of all, I got closer to the problem. Thats a step to a direction to an understand. You have 3 choices - 1. Wait for a fix. 2. Ignorer 3. Try to reinstall. What else can I say? Most of people are just complaining it can not be true that I have to reinstall and bla bla bla.... but for now you have no choice, otherwise don't use windows. Do what you have to, I don't care.

But you have been telling people that re-installing windows will fix the problem.  You were probably lucky, and it worked for you, but for most people it will not work.  Se we are down to 2 choices: wait for a fix or ignore the problem.

 

The whole purpose of this thread is to inform Microsoft of the problem, and asking that they issue a fix.  If nobody informs Microsoft of the problem, then your choices are limited to just ignore the problem.

I am not working for microsoft or a supporter so am not telling people what to do. I am just sharing my experience. Take it or leave it
