About a while ago I ran chkdsk to check and recover bad sectors and fix system files and it then froze at 43% on stage 5 of 5. I left it on through out the night and I went to school and came back it was still at 43%. I then manually shut down the computer and ever since I have been trying to fix the problem. It was the second time I ran chkdsk on this pc while having windows 7 I usually run chkdsk every month or so to make sure everything is functioning right. After my problem occured I have tried so many things i have ran spinrite,I have reinstalled windows, I have tried to run chkdsk on safe mode, I have tried sfc/scannow, and chkdsk /p and all of these things did not fix the problem. Chkdsk /p was the only thing that didnt even try to fix anything because it said invalid parameter. Also when I reinstalled windows 7 on my pc then chkdksk froze at 49% on stage 5 of 5. I even ran diagnostics from the bios and I use Seagate Seatools and both diagnostics said my hard drive was perfectly fine. I also tried running chkdsk from the windows 7 cd and for some reason it completed in less than 2 hours. I then ran chkdsk from the pc and it then froze again this made me think that there had to be something wrong with my pc. So I was wondering how can I get chkdsk to complete perfectly from my pc again instead of using the windows 7 cd each time.

When you start Ghost the splash screen will identify the version.
Just create a custom "Recovery" CD and wait till I see if Ghost is the solution.

I found the cd my father gave me and great news. I believe it is Norton Ghost 15(I feel so lucky to actually have this). I havent done anything to the program other than install it. Give me steps to what you would like me to do.
Currently the Acronis Image backup you created is the only backup you have and for a normal recovery operation it should work just fine, remember I'm trying to do something entirely different than the norm (like eliminating the bad sector using Windows XP's built in "Full" format option), this changes the game as far as what Acronis can due for a number of reasons. That recovery CD you created is why there is not need and I don't want you to un-install Acronis and delete the image backup file.
There is one big down side with Ghost assuming it works for our intended use which as I mentioned is far from the norm for both Acronis and Ghost.
So whats the down side with Norton Ghost ... you need to buy the product as the Ghost trial version doesn't have the ability to create that all important 'Recovery' CD that the Acronis trial verson allows you to do. And the technique I'm still testing depends on the use of a 'Recovery' CD.

What should I do now?
I dont understand the point of keeping Acronis if we wont use it since it has failed on you. Are you sure that keeping the Acronis Image is a good idea because I dont think any other program would be able to read Acronis's image of my partitions.
Also to let you know in disk management everything is still the same. I still have free space and unallocated space.
I havent been able to get rid of the free space.
