Cannot open ODM files in Overdrive Media Console

Hi. I am trying to listen to an Overdrive protected audio file from a

local public library. 

When I try opening the ODM file in Overdrive Media Console, for

delivery of the full media file, I get the error "Unable to aquire a license to play the selected title. The requested license is either invalid or already aquired"

 I get an other error when I try to

get the "Security Upgrade" for WMP11. 

I am using Vista 64 bit on a HP a67oof, WMP11, IE8

Overdrive media console is  16bit software so I dont know if thats why I cant get it work???

Bri-bee, I recommend you visit the following page to contact OverDrive Media Console's support, this is a 3rd party product and we are unfamiliar with its requirements to provide support:

    Hi. I am having the same issue with not being able to play any files in Overdrive Media Console.

    I am using an Asus K50AF laptop with Windows 7 64-bit installed, with IE9, and Windows Media Player 12.

    I have installed/uninstalled ODM multiple times.  I have performed the Windows Media Upgrade *multiple* times, including deletion of those files in the DRM directory with reinstall.

    I get a message stating that it was upgraded.  However, when I download a wma file, and attempt to play it. *nothing at all* happens.  It simply doesn't begin to play any part of the downloaded files.

    I have both IE and IE64bit on my computer. I have (run as admin) when installing the Upgrade.  Nothing I do seems to matter.

    This program works perfectly fine on my Windows 7 32 bit desktop.

    Any assistance appreciated.

    jmk55412: can you play these WMA files in Windows Media Player itself?

    I had the same problem and tried again and again. I also tried getting the security update direct from the other link but it was 'greyed out' and wouldn't work.

    I then tried opening the page in Internet Explorer (I was using Mozilla Firefox) and it worked just fine. Might be worth a try if you are using an alternative browser to Internet Explorer.

    Hi all:

    You may have to empty out the contents of the DRM folder;  it is safe to do so.

    Folder and contents are hidden so, remove the attributes first and then delete contents.

    Location on Windows XP, c:\Documents and Settings\All users\DRM

    Location on Vista:  c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM

    Once you do this you can run the Overdrive Security upgrade once more.

    Follow Carey's steps from above.

    1. open OverDrive Media Console.
    2. Go to Tools > Windows Media Player Security Upgrade.

    A dialog box is displayed, notifying you that Windows Media Player requires a security upgrade to play DRM-protected content.
