Hi. I am trying to listen to an Overdrive protected audio file from a
local public library.
When I try opening the ODM file in Overdrive Media Console, for
delivery of the full media file, I get the error "Unable to aquire a license to play the selected title. The requested license is either invalid or already aquired"
I get an other error when I try to
get the "Security Upgrade" for WMP11.
I am using Vista 64 bit on a HP a67oof, WMP11, IE8
Overdrive media console is 16bit software so I dont know if thats why I cant get it work???

mamastar: have you tried running the security update again?
yes but it does not do any good. It completes and the problem is still there. I even tried to reinstall overdrive but to no avail. I tried microsoft "fix it tool" but no help. I tried "fix overdrive " option when reinstalling overdrive and it runs into a problem an error message comes up??? I have no idea and do not want to mess with my system to much. I have even tried switching default but nothing seems to work. I just don't understand why it worked great before but now the message comes up
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
any ideas??
What's the exact text of the error message that comes up when you try the 'fix Overdrive' option?
Just tried it again and the error did not come up. Download sucessful... but it still does not work.. This is just wierd it will not download when it was fine a few weeks ago. Could it have something to do with explorer 9. I upgraded and it was after that it came up with the codec problem in media player. My librarian uses chrome and I was thinking of changing. Is there a way to reinstall media player? Microsoft "fix it " tool fixed a few things but still not right???? Don't know what to do.
