Cannot open ODM files in Overdrive Media Console

Hi. I am trying to listen to an Overdrive protected audio file from a

local public library. 

When I try opening the ODM file in Overdrive Media Console, for

delivery of the full media file, I get the error "Unable to aquire a license to play the selected title. The requested license is either invalid or already aquired"

 I get an other error when I try to

get the "Security Upgrade" for WMP11. 

I am using Vista 64 bit on a HP a67oof, WMP11, IE8

Overdrive media console is  16bit software so I dont know if thats why I cant get it work???

Bri-bee, I recommend you visit the following page to contact OverDrive Media Console's support, this is a 3rd party product and we are unfamiliar with its requirements to provide support:

    The following steps are listed elsewhere on this post, but I wanted to add a few more details and weed out some of the fluff so that everyone will be able to download the update which so many of us have had problems with.

    1. Open “Control Panel”.
    2. Open “Folder Options” and select the “View” tab.
    3. Select “Show hidden files and folders”.
    4. UNCHECK “Hide protected operating system files”.
    5. In the warning message you receive, click “Yes”.
    6. Click “OK”.
    7. Close the Control Panel
    8. Click the Start button. In the “Start Search” box, paste the following:

    C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\DRM

    1. Delete ONLY the following 4 files:

    blackbox.bin

    drmstore.hds

    v3ks.bla

    v3ks.sec

    1. Open the website (in Internet Explorer; Firefox does not work as of this writing) listed here: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite/en/indivit.asp, and click the "Upgrade" button.
    2. Once the upgrade is complete, you can try downloading and opening the .odm file.
    3. Enjoy!

    You can create that entry yourself, by right-clicking an empty area in the right pane, selecting New - DWORD (32-bit) value and entering DisableProtectedAudioDG.

    If that doesn't help then I suggest that you get in touch with Overdrive's support.

    I tried jmk55412's sugestion but when I get to part at end  "DisableProtectedAudioDG"=dword:00000000     that is not there. I only have default,  EnableCaptureMonitor, and EnableLogonHIDControl   So I don't know where to go from here. Thought I was getting somewhere but do not know where to go next. I also reset IE

    mamastar: if you try jmk55412's suggestion (see previous post), does that help?

    If not, please try clearing IE's Temporary Internet files and Cookies. Also reset IE's settings, through the Advancedpage of  Internet Options in Control Panel.
