Cannot open ODM files in Overdrive Media Console

I found this snippit on the web and it worked for me.....

I did add Overdrive and WMP as exceptions for the firewall first.

**Downloading and installing.**The first step required that I download and install the Overload software; no sweat. The second step required me to “register” the software. This wasn’t registration. It was an upgrade to my Windows Media Player so that I would have the right security patch to prevent copying. For some reason, I had to perform the upgrade twice before it worked. Step three involved downloading and playing the audio book. I guess I screwed up here by first downloading the book then trying to browse to it from inside Overdrive. I kept getting an error message: “Unable to acquire a license the play the selected title. The requested license is either invalid or already acquired.” I browsed the library help files, and Googled the error message, but nothing worked. In the end, I tried downloading the book again, but this time I opened it with Overdrive rather than saving it to disk. It worked.

I have done the steps you have provide but nothing happens when I prees ok to download the security update?? It does not download.

1. While connected to the Internet, open OverDrive Media Console.
2. Go to Tools > Windows Media Player Security Upgrade.

A dialog box is displayed, notifying you that Windows Media Player requires a security upgrade to play DRM-protected content. 3. Click 'OK' in the dialog box.

Windows Media Player opens and the 'Windows Media Player' dialog box is displayed. 4. Click 'Upgrade' to download and install the required security component.

Windows Media Player indicates that it is 'Connecting to server'. Once connected, the security component is downloaded and installed. Windows Media Player indicates that the security component was upgraded successfully. 5. Click the 'Close' button in the 'Windows Media Player' dialog box.

The 'Media Usage Rights Acquisition' dialog box is displayed. 6. Click the 'Play' button in the 'Media Usage Rights Acquisition' dialog box to complete the upgrade.

Windows Media Player plays a brief file, confirming that you have completed the upgrade. 7. Click the 'Cancel' button to close the 'License Acquisition' dialog box. If desired, you can also close Windows Media Player at this time.

You have successfully completed the Windows Media Player Security Upgrade.

Hi. I am trying to listen to an Overdrive protected audio file from a

local public library. 

When I try opening the ODM file in Overdrive Media Console, for

delivery of the full media file, I get the error "Unable to aquire a license to play the selected title. The requested license is either invalid or already aquired"

 I get an other error when I try to

get the "Security Upgrade" for WMP11. 

I am using Vista 64 bit on a HP a67oof, WMP11, IE8

Overdrive media console is  16bit software so I dont know if thats why I cant get it work??? 

Can you help:)
