Hi. I am trying to listen to an Overdrive protected audio file from a
local public library.
When I try opening the ODM file in Overdrive Media Console, for
delivery of the full media file, I get the error "Unable to aquire a license to play the selected title. The requested license is either invalid or already aquired"
I get an other error when I try to
get the "Security Upgrade" for WMP11.
I am using Vista 64 bit on a HP a67oof, WMP11, IE8
Overdrive media console is 16bit software so I dont know if thats why I cant get it work???

In Overdrive media console go to help, then Windows media player update, and click the link found there - it will take you to an update site to download and install update for media player.
It sounds like your not using the Explorer brand browser. Just run the upgrade in Explorer, and it will probably work. Then, when you're finished with it, go back to using whatever browser you enjoy. If you don't have Explorer, you can download it for free on Yahoo's site, or, if you prefer, you can download it for free at microsoft.com
I am having the same problem. I obtained audio books from my public library and the come with the ODM extension. So what do I do to get them to open on my computer. Am trying to put them on my MP3 player and on an IPOD. I am on Windows 7, have downloaded the Windows Media Player, the ODMedia Console and probably anything else they have suggested. HELP please.

To Fix Windows 7 WMA Dilemma on Overdrive
Go to Start
Default programs
Click “Associate a file type or protocol with a program
Scroll down and highlight .odm
Click on change program
Click on browse
Go to the C drive
Click on program files (x86)
Find over drive media console
Double click to open the folder
Highlight media console and click ok
You will be returned to the Association with file type window highlight overdrive media console and select ok
Then go back to the library site and select download
Re-download and you are listening!
