When I create a system repair disk,once click create button and error came out

original title: the parameter is incorrect ( 0x80070057)

Hi lew9789,

·         Which method did you follow to create the recovery disc?

i.           Boot the system by inserting Windows 7 installation disc.

ii.         When it gets to the main setup window, click on Repair from the lower left corner.

iii.       Select Command Prompt from the main Repair menu. 

iv.        At the command prompt type in recdisc, then ENTER.

v.          You'll get the popup to choose which drive letter to create the Recovery disc to.

vi.        Have a clean DVD in the DVD drive and select start.

This should get your System repair disc created.

    Hello gchetcuti,

    I just tried the create repair disk procedure for my HP dv-2157us win7, 64bit laptop:

    1. At command prompt, I typed recdisc.exe. At this point I got a 'create system repair disk' prompt > 'select the cd/dvd drive you want to use.'
    2. I inserted a cd-r and clicked on 'create disc'.
    3. It immediately still fails with same error I got (about 5/2010 on the first page of this 'unable to create sys repair disk' forum), saying 'could not create the disc, parameter was incorrect' (0x80070057)

    I do not have the Installation Disk.  Computer came with Windows 7 already installed.  What should I try now?  Thanks for the input.

    I'm running off-the-shelf Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit on a self-built computer (so no HP nonsense here) and still I get the same error as everyone else in this thread. SFC scan comes out totally clean nor does the administrative command line 'recdisk' work (gives the same error), I'm happily able to burn CD's, DVD's and Blurays to my hearts content with Nero and ImgBurn.

     

    So what gives? I've got a fully updated Windows installation that was installed on a vanilla new computer and I've even ran CCleaner to scrub the registry to no avail. I can do image backups and normal scheduled backups to my external drive no problem, but I can't burn a single recovery disc?

    The last thing that I can think of is that the disk recording application might not support USB-connected burners? I'm using an LG SuperMulti Blue external USB v2.0 burner and don't have an internal burner on my desktop machine at all. The utility finds and suggests the burner correctly in the targer selection drop-down box and fails with the error the moment I press the 'Create Disc' button.

    I'm pretty much the same situation. Only difference is my DVD drive is SATA, not USB. But I can't create a repair disk. Frustrating. Has anyone conquered this problem?

    My software came "Preloaded" so I do not have an installation disk.  I do have the "Recovery Disks".  Is there a way for me to create a Repair Disk?
