Windows Media Player shows the incorrect album information.

Old title: Windows Media Player giving wrong info....

I try to rip my music CDs to Windows Media Player but my recent new albums it gives me the wrong album info why is this? any clues.

It's possible that WMP incorrectly identifies a CD as another album. To fix this, look up the album info manually: right-click one of the tracks, select Find album info , search for the correct album, and follow the remaining steps of the wizard.

If you go to the All Music Guide database (which is used by WMP), and the information there is incorrect as well, you should be able to correct it there.

Also, if you make corrections through Find Album Info, that information might be used to correct the database in the future.

    I recently upgraded to Win10 and chose FLAC. Not sure how the output format would have much to do with whether or not CD info can be found.

    By the way, I haven't been able to repro it with any CD recently except this particular David Gilmour CD. (and to add to the confusion, I happen to have that Keith Richards CD, but haven't yet ripped it...will be interesting to remove the errant gilmour, rip the richards, the rip gilmore again)

    I will change output format to something/anything else to make sure that isn't an issue.

    Hi Kelly...

    First - sorry for not getting back sooner - I have been having a few pc issues myself this week (still am!) so my attention has been elsewhere.

    I was assuming an earlier OS than 'ten' - I am still just getting to grips with W10 and the first thing I noticed was that although flac is a good format it is not supported in iTunes so I have gone for Alac

    • which is. I think Tim is right in that file management may well prove easier if you use mp3 or wma... If you use iTunes, mp3 at a high quality setting would be better because like flac wma is not supported.  Cheers, Ric.

    I seriously have no clue why what you are saying has anything to do with the issue at hand.

    The issue is that Windows Media Player on multiple versions of Windows will search out and find incorrect info for some CDs.

    This has nothing to do with output format.

    This has nothing to do with iTunes or any other media player.

    It is not Windows 10 specific. Just look at the first reports of this.
