Old title: Windows Media Player giving wrong info....
I try to rip my music CDs to Windows Media Player but my recent new albums it gives me the wrong album info why is this? any clues.

It's possible that WMP incorrectly identifies a CD as another album. To fix this, look up the album info manually: right-click one of the tracks, select Find album info , search for the correct album, and follow the remaining steps of the wizard.

If you go to the All Music Guide database (which is used by WMP), and the information there is incorrect as well, you should be able to correct it there.
Also, if you make corrections through Find Album Info, that information might be used to correct the database in the future.
I find that even if I correct artist in WMP[edit] it reverts within a couple of hours. is there a way to edit data and make it stay as edited.
Bob: in WMP, go to Tools - Options - Library (press Ctrl+M if you don't see the Tools menu). Make sure that Retrieve additional information from the Internet is unchecked (as in Ric's screenshot), or set to Only add missing information.
It may be that the db program you mention is causing an issue. I use WMP and iTunes and have used Real Player in the past without any problem, in terms of entered info being altered. What setting are you using in WMP Options for the Library and Privacy settings... my suggested settings are below (if changing click 'Apply' and 'OK') - if this is what you already have there may be something else worth trying. You are right about the confused info - classical music is probably the worst but on the whole iTunes gets closer more often than the MS database. I just keep a preferred version - as per your example I would use 'Diana Ross' or 'The Supremes' whichever was most appropriate - rather than have three (or more) options. I edit such info myself before ripping a disc and make sure I never click 'Update album info' in WMP! I have WMP internet settings kept to the bare minimum for good measure. Once you have set the info you want it should not really be a 'full time job' correcting it. Let me know if you want to check through settings. - Cheers, Ric.
To further complicate the problem, because a lot of cd's are not known by different programmes, I have real player, WMP and iTunes and also dbpower amp cd ripper and converter because it will read cd text, and consults multiple data bases.
