Windows Vista- Can't turn on Windows Defender

I TRIED TO TURN ON WINDOW DEFENDER. IT GAVE AN ERROR 0X800705B4.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Hi tropicalvic,

Let’s follow these steps which should fix the issue.

Step 1

If you have any third party antivirus software and firewall disable them temporarily and make sure that the Windows Firewall is turned on. Then check if the issue reappears.

Step 2

  1. Open Run, and  type in services.msc then press Enter.
  2. In services window, locate Windows Defender service in the services list.
  3. Verify that the Status is Started. If the Status column is blank,

right click on the service and select Start.

4 If you get error trying to force start the Windows Defender service, try to change the Startup Type to Automatic, and then restart the computer.

    Hi, it is not an error I got. Rather, it says windows defenderservices on local computer started and then stopped.Some services automatically stop if they are not in use by other services or programs.

    what shall I do now please?

    1. I typed in Windows Defender and recieved an error code: 0x800705b4                            
    2. Microsoft Fix It Center, After I click install, I click run. Then, I immediately recieve an error message: 0x80040154.
    3. When I plug in my Samsung Galaxy S2 into my HP Pavillion with my USB Cable, the driver does not recognize it.
    4. My PC is running slow and all of the sudden I have a proxy anonymizer problem and I cannot fix it. HP Pavillion is running Vista and is up to date, as well as Security Essentials and Windows update. Windows Defender is down and I believe it is supposed to be on. Is that right ?
