Windows Vista- Can't turn on Windows Defender

I TRIED TO TURN ON WINDOW DEFENDER. IT GAVE AN ERROR 0X800705B4.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Hi tropicalvic,

Let’s follow these steps which should fix the issue.

Step 1

If you have any third party antivirus software and firewall disable them temporarily and make sure that the Windows Firewall is turned on. Then check if the issue reappears.

Step 2

  1. Open Run, and  type in services.msc then press Enter.
  2. In services window, locate Windows Defender service in the services list.
  3. Verify that the Status is Started. If the Status column is blank,

right click on the service and select Start.

4 If you get error trying to force start the Windows Defender service, try to change the Startup Type to Automatic, and then restart the computer.

    my windows defender is all ready in Automatic.... and restar my computer not change my error 0x800705b4

    Hi ibrahimpatel,

    ·         Do you have any third party antivirus program installed on your computer?

    ·         Did you make any changes on your computer prior to this issue?

    Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1

    If you have any security software installed, disable them temporarily & check if the issue persists.

    Note:   Ensure to enable your anti-virus back on the computer after you finish these steps.

    You may follow this link and check if the issue persists.

    Troubleshooting Windows Defender

    Method 3

    If above methods doesn’t help, you may run system file checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files & check if the issue persists.

    a. Type ‘cmd’ in the Start Search box. Right click on cmd in the Program list and then select the option Run as administrator.

    Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

    b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    sfc /scannow

    when I click on start,it starts and then does'n finish run and I got system message ,window defender start but stop.
