I have this same issue today, with a little variation from most of the other reports.
Like every one else, my XP Home PC appears to have failed immeidately upon rebooting from the Automatic Windows Updates performed around 3 a.m. last night.
Upon loading Windows, I get a BSOD with a STOP: command, but no other explicit driver or error is listed, just the numeric codes (which change a little each time I reboot).
I can load Windows via Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking. I've tried three different system restore points from this week, but none have gotten the BSOD to go away.
I've tried using the Repair commands to remove the hotfixes, but I don't think they worked. Upon each BATCH spuninst.txt command I get a varying number of Access Denied errors. Upon reboot, the BSOD was still there. I don't know if the hotfix removals were
successful or not. I also looked for them in the Add/Remove Programs screen, but didn't find any in there post 1/20. Maybe I screwed it up with my previous System Restores?
I'm this close to buying a fresh copy of Windows 7 tomorrow + new hard drive and starting over from scratch.
