If your computer is having problems playing sound, try using the Playing Audio troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common problems with your volume settings, your sound card or driver, and your speakers or headphones.

To open the Playing Audio troubleshooter:

1.       Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

2.        In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.

3.       Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio playback.

4.       Follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.

    You are right, I tried realtek and win7 I don't know if dell has anything I tried downloading some of their audio driver still no sound.

    I am ready to blow mine up and get a lap top I paid 1600 for this dell and it crashed 5 times with Vista, had it changed over to Xp and it still is a mess I think I got a dud.

    I have a driver program that is supposed to fix drivers and it can't even fix the problem.  It says no audio devices installed.

    I tried that already now no sound and I can't even get my media to work properly as I have no audio.
