If your computer is having problems playing sound, try using the Playing Audio troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common problems with your volume settings, your sound card or driver, and your speakers or headphones.

To open the Playing Audio troubleshooter:

1.       Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

2.        In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.

3.       Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio playback.

4.       Follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.

    I guess my problem is uncommon. All the usual stuff doesn't seem to work. Checked Device Manager, drivers, connections. (LOL) plugged speakers into my iPhone... they work. The sound just works when it feels like it.

    I tried the trouble-shooter but it could not identify the problem. It seems a bit flakey. If I mute my laptop when i am docked into the docking station it seems my sound is lost forever ???

    These moderators have no idea what they are talking about, use the troubleshooter what a joke. A new feature that doesn't work just like every other feature. I mean really has any Windows OS ever found you the correct driver. Or did system restore ever restore your computer everytime. Have you seen the new one. Let windows get your hardware working with another OS that it worked on before. Ive tried it all it just gives you false hope then it lets you down when it says sorry can't do that or can't find that. We are all going to have to wait and deal with this until they i mean we find all the bugs so they can fix them haven't we all learned already from Vista, i guess not. We pay big money to be Beta testers when this should of all been resolved when they had the real beta out. But Billy boy needs some more cash cause Steve Jobs is closing in fast.

    I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s7410n PC and after upgrading to 7, I have no sound.  The troubleshooter turned up nothing too.  Any thoughts??  Thanks.
