No Stereo Mix in Windows 7 Please Help!

Yes I believe CHOUNG is correct about the media corps but it is ultimately the driver that makes the stereo mix available.

The agreements between manufactures such as Dell, Sony, HP ect may influence the drivers that are provided to windows update. So in some cases there may be an older driver that does show the Stereo Mix. In some cases such as Dell recently decided to reverse the agreement for certain laptops due to enough complaints by their customers  who bought those laptops. So people, make your voice heard. Complain to Dell, HP, Sony and let them know you like  to soft record.

By the way there is no way to make a sound card that diss-allows a driver from connecting to the stereo mix in windows. It is ultimately the driver which connects the sound to the sound card. Who ever makes the driver, decides ultimately to or not to port to the stereo mix feature in windows. it comes down to who wrote your driver?

I had this issue with my HP laptop and VIsta. When I bought the laptop, the Stereo Mix worked but then Windows Update updated the driver and the stereo mix went missing. However I was able to locate the previous version of the driver and resolve the issue.

I also have a Dell Tower where in Windows 7, there is no Stereo Mix but with XP installed there is. Running Windows update or going to Dell for the latest drivers had no success in fixing the issue. However, Once I identified the model and manufacturer of my sound card and went to their website and updated the driver, the issue was resolved.

So my response is yes it is a conspiracy between the machine developers such as Dell, hp etc and the drivers they supply to windows, but  that does not mean you can not either locate a capable driver or install a capable sound card. Preferably one that is not owned by said Corporations in bed with the Recording giants who all belong to Apple Itunes Now. Apple by the way never supported native soft recording since the invention of Itunes. ( I wonder why )

If all else fails, plug a 2 way audio wire from an "out jack" to a "in jack".

I  dont know how to mess with drivers and such tech stuff. I'm  just one of those poor fools that buys something and expects it to work as claimed by the vendor.  I  should have known better. I  should have known that both microsoft , toshiba etc a just theiving Bxxxxxxxds  who's only concern is their bottom line, not customer satisfaction.

I've read all over on the internet but none of the solutions help me. I use Stereo Mix to send sounds over MSN using the record button as well as using the mic. The mic works fine in 7 and stereo mix used to work in windowsxp and vista but now in windows 7 on the same machine (Acer 4420 notebook) there is no stereo mix. I go into the sound control panel then right click and say

Show disabled devices

Show disconnected devices

and all that shows up is the monitor microphone, the microphone sound card jack and line-in. I need Stereo Mix to work in Windows 7.

I've written for help on the microsoft answers board twice now and they ignored me, I've asked on yahoo answers, they ignored me. I even wrote to realtek and they have ignored me as well twice now, I will be contacting the better business bureau to complain about customer service if I cannot reach a solution. I have been trying to find a solution for a month now!

HI ,  to all my  friends here is the answer to streo mix ,just download the DriverMax  and then  update the realtek high definatin audio drive  restart  and u will see streo mix in recording device make sure u hv chek the "Show Disabled devices and  Show Disconnected devices  there u go  enjoy streo mix  in ur laptop :))))  its really works make sure when u go to streo mix properties check  the box " Listern to this device" then in play back device  slect Speakers /High Defination Audio

then click  OK  .... then  in microphone go in properties( dont chek the box " listern to this device ") and then  in Playback through this device  select ( Default playback device )
