Moving picture files around within a folder

When I try to drag and drop picture files within a folder to improve the order as I did with XP, the files return to their original location within the folder. How can I move pictures around within a folder?

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows forum.

You cannot manually rearrange the files/pictures by dragging within the folder in Windows 7. This change is by design in Windows 7. You can only uncheck the option to auto arrange icons on the desktop and can use it only on the desktop.

If you are referring to the Arrange by date, size, etc then you can still do that by simply Right clicking and selecting Sort by option in the drop down menu when inside the picture or file folder.

    Thanks for the win-7 board link,

    I had that darn thing but have missed placed the bugger, so I left the other one which did not have very good reviews.

    Personally I haven't done either one, a none issue for myself.

    Your reply link was sooo confusing. I'm not a computer geek as u seem to be. This solution needs to be made simple and understandable. Microsoft needs to get off their butt and resolve this problem! This is absolutely ridiculous and frustrating!!!!!!!
