Moving picture files around within a folder

When I try to drag and drop picture files within a folder to improve the order as I did with XP, the files return to their original location within the folder. How can I move pictures around within a folder?

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows forum.

You cannot manually rearrange the files/pictures by dragging within the folder in Windows 7. This change is by design in Windows 7. You can only uncheck the option to auto arrange icons on the desktop and can use it only on the desktop.

If you are referring to the Arrange by date, size, etc then you can still do that by simply Right clicking and selecting Sort by option in the drop down menu when inside the picture or file folder.

    Don't you people at micros...t (not soft but the same # of letters!) know that this is a real inconvenience for us???  XP could do it, why not 7?  Please give us a LOGICAL answer, then follow up and FIX IT.  I have every intention of bad mouthing W-7 with every breath I take !!!!!

    Microsoft! Hello, Wake Up; I think a multibillion corp. should at least appreciate all our concerns over the lack of fuctionality in WIN 7. Since installing I have come to learn that Microsoft Duped the world selling us a skeleton of an operating system with horrible limitations. I would down load the Google operating system if there was one. Microsoft you should be ashamed to not support your products. Where is your sense of responsibility. Drag and Drop must return ! Media player is so bad I stopped using it. Your website, repair tools and database are prehistoric.  Do you need help?  I can fix these issues easily, maybe you should give me a call and I will teach you how to run a business. The CEO has failed, Engineering has failed. So Sad.

    Called Microsoft Direct What a joke Talking to someone in India or something can't even understand him ! :( Put me on hold and never came back I hung up after 30 minutes on Hold. Who is running this relic of a compan. Someone HELP
