Windows Media Player encountered a problem while creating or saving the playlist.

Since last week I cannot create a playlist in WMP 12 on windows 7. Also cannot rip cd's. MS has no information regarding this problem. Worked o.k. before last week when updates were installed. Has there been a way found to remove WMP 12 and revert to WMP 11? Or should I abandon Windows 7 and return to VISTA? I have done what I know to do so far, including restoring computer to an earlier date. Still does not work right.

Microsoft... Please fix WMP 12.

Hi Trakai,

I would recommend you to run the Windows Media Player settings troubleshooter and check.

If the issue exists uninstall and re-install the Windows Media Player. Here is how.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:

Step 1.

Uninstalling the Windows Media Player:

Go to Start and in the search type "Turn Windows features On or Off".
Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
Browse to the Media Features and uncheck the mark in front of Windows Media Player.
Restart the computer

Step 2.

Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:

Go to Start and in the search type "Turn Windows features On or Off".
Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
Browse to the Media Features and place a check mark in front of Windows Media Player.
Restart the Computer.

You are a freaking genius !! i found the same solution myself just some time back, this ate my head for quite some time now... :) oh well i typed the error code and came to this forum to post the answer and found yours. only if i could have read this before :p oh well !

Hi Tried all the above and still did not work but had an idea that works for me.

I created a new admin user and when selected the media player done a full setup and work sperfectly for that new user, Still does not work in the original. but now I can create playlist and the rest of the functions work. may be some one can identify the original issue

Kenneth: in WMP, please go to Tools - Options - Rip Music (press Ctrl+M if you don't see the Tools menu). Is there a rip music location set? Can you change it by clicking the Change... button?

umm i tryed this nd then i tryed to make a playlist but it still says they encounterd an error what else can i do please help me.
