It really shouldn't surprise anyone that has used a pc for even a little while that 7 doesn't come with a bluray codec.... I can't remember if Vista had a codec for DVD, but I don't think it did, I know that XP didn't. however, on the other hand. I haven't
found a single PC you can buy that has a Bluray drive that doesn't have software to play bluray movies. I also personally doubt that bluray drives purchased in a consumer format (ie boxed, on display at a vendor for consumers, not at a OEM parts store) wont
have software for playing bluray movies... that's how it was with DVDs, the only difference is all the software for dvds made it so you could play them in WMP, the ones for blurays dont seem to all do that (yet) so you didn't notice it at all for DVD's 'cuz
you installed the software, or it came installed on the pc then you probably forgot about it and played the DVDs in WMP.
in other words, nothing changed other than some bluray software not instantly making it so that you can play blurays in WMP (i'm guessing that was because blurays use java), and more people buying their parts oem and possibly not recieveing software to play
blurays (which i doubt, did you actually check the discs that came with the hardware? i bet it's there).
anyway, i'm still looking forward to something simple that makes my Blurays play in WMP because I don't like the software that came on my PC.
