Windows 7 Media player will not play back BluRay disc's

Duh, JaimeLobo, of course we have all rights to be mad at Microsoft for inconsistently supporting SD DVDs but not blu-ray in a modern OS such as Windows 7.

The lame answer that Mac OS doesn't support it either is getting tiring, it really doesn't help Microsoft customers and supporters, especially those ready to pay extra for it, and it's the kind of argument that prevents any progress being made. Do you think it's a good thing that Mac OS has no built-in support for blu-ray?

You bought a Pioneer Blu Ray drive with software from Cyberlink for Vista that doesn't work on Windows 7 and somehow you are mad at Microsoft???

Why aren't you complaining to Cyberlink/Pioneer that their product isn't upward compatible (or have you even checked to see if there is free/cheap upgrade).

But, that $649 you spent for a computer stand, desk, and chair to play Blu Ray movies is definately Microsoft's fault :o).

BTW, if you buy a Mac, you'll have the same problem and it will cost more money to fix, as they don't support Blu Ray either.

I am in the same boat, as I had bought an Acer pc, that had Vista, and Vista performed so badly, I quickly got Windows 7. How convenient that windows 7 does not play blu ray discs. Media center ? I think not. I did have software that came with the blu ray burner, Cyberlink BD Solution v6, which worked fine on Vista, so why not 7 ? I tried a dozen ways to install the suite and keep getting an error 1625, which is an old error, the Microsoft circle.

I also need a laptop for the wife.

I am seriously thinking we should all switch to MAC's.

I understand the cost thing, but I also understand one should give their customers options and knowledge.

I respect the plenty of others who don't want it, but given a choice, I would have got it ( blu ray capable unit to go with specific machine ).

There are retailers selling burners with software that will not work, and they didn't know it wouldn't work either.

I clicked on the faq above, yeah we know.

I called Pioneer, the retailer I bought the burner from, Cyberlink, and even here everyone is pointing fingers. ( y'all know which finger I am pointing )

I already paid for Vista and the mark up, then Windows 7 and the mark up, the 208.99 dollar blu ray burner with included software that worked on Vista ( about the only thing that worked on Vista ), and so I have to keep buying more software ?

Ok, Microsoft, I will send you 30 bucks, and you send me a WMC that plays blu ray, deal ?

I am ready to get an iHammer and smash my Microsoft products to bits ( just like that HTC windows phone that didn't work either {locked up and shut down whenerver} ) and go with Mac, like other people with computers that work, and no surprises.

Just out of spite.

 Maybe Microsoft's next pc can just have a card reader on the side of a machine that actually works and is consistent, and we the public will have to simply swipe our cards daily in order to use our machines.

With all the above, I still cannot play a blu ray disc ? I did buy everything, I don't like having my hand forced at buying more. I do remember being told that some programs will not work, but no specifics about this issue last July when I bought the Blu Ray burner, or this March when I bought Windows 7.

You all should come up with a purchasable patch for blu ray for around 30 bucks.

Heck, you might even make more money.

Shoot, I'll buy it.

But I don't want to spend another 60 dollars plus tax and shipping for a product that is only one Windows 7 update away from not working, again.

Windows, you created the issue, Windows, offer all of us a patch, I will pay the 30 bucks as I am sure so will many, many others.
