Windows 7 Media player will not play back BluRay disc's

Guys, this is getting rediculous.. 

1. Firstly, how many people are ACTUALLY using Blu-Ray on their computer? Only a very small proportion of people (I know, I work at a computer store, and despite the price drops on drive, we still don't sell that many blu-ray drives). Are you telling me that Microsoft should pay a huge fee for each copy of Windows to Sony, whilst very few people actually use Blu-Ray? 
2. How many people actually buy Blu-Ray movies. Lets face it, very few. Digital downloads is the future. We all know that, so why the outrage? Why give MORE power to the companies who are trying to kill digital distribution
3. Blu-Ray as a format is so unfriendly to consumers that MANY people need to hack it to make it work, even after paying the licensing fee. This ignores the fact that your display manufacturer also needs to pay a licensing fee.  Most people still seem to be using DVI, and most displays only ship a DVI cable in the box. Blu-Ray is so anti-consumer that if Microsoft included a codec, they would need to support it, and customers don't accept "your hardware isn't appropriate" as an answer. 
4. Sony as a corporation is corrupt. They placed rootkits on their CD's, and now you guys are banging your drums encouraging their dominance. I'm sorry, but NOTHING Microsoft has done, can ever be worse than Sony.
5. Sony have the power to prevent newer disks playing in compromised implementations. The problem is that ANYTHING can be cracked, and Microsoft is such a nice target, so we can almost assume that Sony will try to break support 24/7.  

You guys need to think long and hard about this.  It doesn't make sense for Microsoft to do this financially, it doesn't make sense for non-blu-ray users, it doesn't make sense to anyone who wants digital distribution to take over, and it doesn't make sense to anyone who wants to be able to one day click their movie online and stream it for a few sense (because Sony is doing their best to prevent that happening). It's very short sighted to force everyone to cough up a massive Blu-ray Tax for a standard, because Sony once again decided to fragment the industry again. 

And the anti-Microsoft stuff I'm hearing here is a JOKE. Some of you guys need your brains examined (seriously). There is NO WAY, I'm paying a few dollars for a Blu-Ray codec to Sony and a few cents tribute for every disc sold whilst Sony also have the power to flip a kill switch (and steal my money). Seriously, I don't agree with Steve Jobs much, but Blu-Ray is a bag of hurt, and you'd have to be a total moron to wage some holy war against Microsoft in Sony's name.

HD DVD may have died, but it was still as bad as Blu-Ray anyway. Instead, wage a holy war against optical media, and try to get studio's to release movies digitally (so that everyone wins). Microsoft are actually pushing digital downloads more anyway (so in some ways they are on our side).

dont pay for the third party software, microsoft could be in partnership with there "recommended" software, dont do it, rip them off the way they rip us off, hack the ____ out windows 7, (very easily done) download nero 10 or cyberlink dvd, get the torrents dont buy them. and NEVER buy windows operating systems again. always wait till a hack or patch comes out for them. microsoft install dvds already have the "key" on the disc, you just have to find a way of extracting that file and taking the key. thats all your realy paying for, a stupid key. there is ways of doing it. just look hard enough and you will find how. as for blu-ray on windows 7, if they did bring out a blu-ray add-on for wmp then it would probably just end up being a huge joke, just like w7 is. microsoft are the biggest joke though, all these years of "experiance" going on about how good xp was, then vista, then w7, and they cant even bring out a silly add on. lol, i seriously dont know why we continue to support and buy there software, windows is the easiest to get infected by viruses etc, if you had the know how, you could reprogram windows 7, dismantle the full dvd, and rebuild it, like we have done with xp. only thing stopping us doing it with w7 is theres far to much data to rebuild. would take months. just do as i said above and you will be fine. you will get your blu-ray playback

Ok Just to let everyone know I'm just a average computer user with perhaps basic to intermediate technical knowledge of computers, but I'm very sure of one thing I'm upset that windows 7 does not support blu ray play back. I bought my Sony Vaios last year and the one major incentive I had for purchasing it was the blu ray play back capability that it had advertise so vehemently. Now I did not care that it came with vista which I heard horrible, horrible things about all I cared about was watching my blu ray movies on my computer, but to the contrary vista worked fantastic for me and I loved it and loved watching all my Bbu ray movies right on my computer without a single problem, fast forward a couple of months and behold windows 7 which was supposed to be an "upgrade" from vista, (and I use the term loosely) so hey I figured if vista was good windows 7 was definitely a must have. So silly me I jump on the chance to get the free "upgrade" to windows 7 that Microsoft so generously offered. Suffice it to say that I wish I would have just stayed with vista. Now how many of you have heard anyone say that? smh at myself and Microsoft. Now I'm force to spend 70 -100 dollars on third party player. Not a good look during this recession. But hey I'm over it I guess....Not. And yes I know there are alternatives but I wanted to watch movies on my computer thats what I originally paid for and now I guess I got to pay for it again.

microsoft wont give you an answer because the bottom line is, they dont know how to. its US that purchase there "so called" new state of the art software, its US that make them richer, its US that have to suffer the issues that there software brings up, its US that find the solutions to many problems that microsoft fail to see, that tv advert they have for windows 7, how it can do this and that, alot of which NONE of us will use in a hurry, and they cant even give us a basic feature such as blu-ray playback, you are right, they do have the technology and money to over come this issue, the fact that sony own the rights to blu-ray will be putting them off giving us what we bought windows 7 for in the first place. microsoft are just like nasa, they think up an idea, then go, oh yes that will make us alot of money, make it, then they dont know how to work it OR they havent thought it through properly and dont want to deal with all the complaints afterwords by mugs like US, afterall they now have the money we paid for the software so what do they care? if they like ripping us off, do the same to them, download all microsoft hacked software and use it. sell it, pass it around. for a start, them saying use third party software, then saying they DONT recommend it, thats just sheer stupidity, and there just pushing us to look and buy elsewhere for our needs. THEN however (when its to late and you have already got your third party software) microsoft will have an update like "BD - Blu-Ray WMP Plug-in E1947558329" come up on there stupid windows update. a 5 year old could run microsoft better. they said windows 7 was unhackable, it is, i know that from experiance, just a classic example of the cr*p they say. dont use microsoft for anything, do it yourself. someway or another, someone will come up with a codec for it wether microsoft like it or not.
