aldavis17 - if you bought a Dell with a blu-ray player factory installed they would be in my mind obligated to provide the player. I have a friend who purchased an HP dv7-4000 series laptop with a blu-ray player and it came with a the software to play
the blu-ray discs.
It was not an add-on to Windows Media Player, but rather an HP package callled HP Media Smart which appears to be basically their version of the Cyberlink software. If you do not find a "Dell Media" software package on your machine then you should call Dell
Technical Support and if the L1 (ones who answer the phone) cannot help, ask for a supervisor. If the supervisor cannot help, ask to have the case escalated. Don't be nasty, don't scream or holler at them, just be insistent, basically refusing to take no for
an answer and asking to have it kicked higher. Get a case number and if necessary a number to contact someone and bug the fire out of them. But, be nice as you bug them, you will get further.
In my case I had purchased a BD burner to add to my desktop. While I had my friends HP here, I tried his BD disk in my desktop to de-bug it. After purchasing WinDVD 2010 from Corel and changing my video card it plays the BD disk. I had to change the video card
because it did not like my DVI to HDMI adapter. I removed an Nvidia 9800 card and installed an Nvidia 9600 that had a built in HDMI output.
