You are the moron idiot.
Everything on pc or electronic has a license attach to it moron. Now a company as big as Microsoft should had already made its product compatible with one of the most popular format in the market. What will be the cost of it, maybe 1 to 2 dollars per customer.
Will it be worth it for the customer to have it on the operating system rather than on a third party software, it is a biggggggggggggg yessssssssssssssssss. So please stop acting like an idiot and save us the time with your stupid comments.
If it were something Microsoft could buy, they would. But they have tried a number of times and have been denied. The exclusivity of the codec is invaluable to companies like apple who will not let Microsoft purchase it. And mostly to frustrate Microsoft users
(which has clearly worked) and persuade them to look beyond Windows when choosing an OS.
Microsoft using the codec and selling a billion copies is like you downloading a bootleg movie which is still in cinemas and selling a billion copies of it. Even if you wanted to you couldn't buy it, so you just do it illegally and distribute it knowing
you'd face an enormous fine.
Companies don't spend 80mil developing a new format just to share it with their competition.
