Original Title: I have Microsoft Windows 7 though the windows installer is not working correctly. How can I install the windows installer 5.0 or ensure it is working?

  1. What is the issue with Windows Installer?
  2. Do you have any issues installing any program?
  3. Do you get any error message related to Windows Installer?

We cannot install Windows Installer 5.0 as it is the default version in Windows 7. If you can provide us more details about the issue, then we can assist you better.

If Windows Installer is malfunctioning, then try to Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, type cmd, right click cmd and click run as administrator.

b. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /unreg" and then press ENTER.

c. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /regserver" and then press ENTER.

d. Check the difference.

    Hello Paul Seaton-Smith,

     Thank you for the response.  What is the exact error message you are recieving?  Are you not able to install any software or just Oulook specifically? 

    Please let us know status.

    I too have this problem.

    I can't install Office meaning I can't do any work - not good.

    Please can we have a fix?

    Hi,

    I failed to install itunes due to the prompt message

    "The windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

    I also tried to unreg and reg of wins installer but still not working. Could you please help to solve this issue.

    Same issue, the repair on windows 7 says no issue found and won't even try.

    It has been doing this since chkdsk stuffed my computer and i had to use a restore point.

    I look around for this issue and have seen not one fix that works. no one ever replies thanks that worked, nope not one and have been searching for hours, windows 7 so far is junk i had windows xp stable for a very long time, pity the new computer came with win7.
