Let’s follow these steps before you proceed with the installation of ITunes.

1. Download and install:

b)Select the program, and then click Uninstall.

Also, download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove all iTunes software:

Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install Cleanup"). In the list of programs that appear in Cleanup, select any iTunes entries, and click remove. Quit out of Cleanup.

4.Reinstall all iTunes software and check if it works.

Hello. This worked for me, having downloaded iTunes from the Apple website:

1. Download and install 7-zip;
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose 7-zip> "Extract to iTunes"; (on windows 7 open itunessetup.exe with 7-zip and hit the extract icon and place it on desktop follow the rest)
3. Next, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and install;
4. Install everything but iTunes;
5. Install iTunes;
6. This should be it .

had the same problem..when trying to update itunes to 10.5.3

W7 x64 pro.

Tried Linney suggestions and when installing the .net framework i got hit by the Error 1935.

I have resolved this issue by doing a repair installation.

Here is something you can try if you don't want to do "my" favored solution of a clean install.

It depends on part as to the version of Windows you are running.

Windows Virtual PC

Download Windows XP Mode

Windows XP Mode (Windows 7 only, but not any of the Home versions)   "You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode".    If you have an old XP CD (or other older Windows CD)  available you can just download the Virtual Machine and skip the XP Mode download.

This covers the whole gambit of virtual machines in "Home" versions if you want to have a look at it.  Of course you will need a licensed copy of XP to install and  run in any of them (except XP Mode).

The advantage of the XP Mode VM is that you can load (XP) applications, like Itunes, from Windows 7 without actually starting XP.  You might want to try uninstalling Itunes in Windows 7 before going down that track.
