Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording.  This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo.  Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

Thanks,

Chris

I dont understand why they just give the same cut and paste answer to everyone with this problem. We need to flood this board with the same question until we get an swer. Somebody start another thread with thte same question. Flood this board til they give a solution to their shoddy product. Im a musician with a useless laptop at the moment.

    Ideas:

    • Programs you are having problems with

How do I get rid of microphone lag in WINDOWS 7??

    • Error messages
    • Recent changes you made to your computer
    • What you have already tried to fix the problem

This problem has been widespread throughout window 7 users. There is a slight delay in the sound from the speakers, when using a microphone or something similar. Where is the fix to this issue? This is NOT, i repeat, NOT! a driver issue. All users have had this issue and most of them are audio professionals. I need a professional to actually answer the question and solve this problem. We would all appreciate a REAL answer not a CUT AND PASTE ANSWER! Please help or I will have to downgrade or discover a new OS, and I think we all know who that will be.

...THIS IS NOT NOT NOT A DRIVER ISSUE!

...IT IS NOT NOT NOT IN THE TROUBLESHOOTING HELP MENU!

...I AM POSITIVE MY OWN EQUIPMENT IS WORKING!

...AND YES I TURNED THE POWER ON!

I agree, we really do need to flood the boards with this. I have started a new thread and more people should do the same.

    PLEASE!
