Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording. This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo. Anyone else having this problem?

HTOmega Claro+ sound card

E6600 Intel CPU

6 gigs of RAM

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

Hi people... try refreshing your computer's Windows Experience Index . After clicking on the "Re-run Assessment " link, you will be informed of your key system components rate. i had sound delay when i got a 1.0 base score coz windows informed me i should install a higher version video card. i have a 2.5 base score now and i don't have any sound delay anymore. btw, i also am using Vista_Win7_R246 for audio. i can play my guitar through the computer's speakers now ^_^

Hi Chris, I need your help please. I just purchased this laptop form dell and it cames with win7. I use this pc for musc recording so I need as many people to monitor myself in real time. I just configured two microphones one USB mic (Samson C03u) and another mic that I plugged in the line in jack. The point is that I have an anoying delay in both mics. I understand the lag in the USB mic, but Icant understand the lag in the line in mic!!!!!! What should I do??? Please I need this fixed! Help me.

I noticed the same problem after having to reinstall windows 7.

I came to the conclusion if you open up the realtek configuration menu,

you can click advanced settings on the upper right corner.

There it should allow you to spilt the incoming signals.

This allows me to record without delay, however for some reason

it causes the volume of the sound to drop.

Not that annoying but it shouldn't happen.

I hope I helped someone with this information.
