Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Same problem here, I've tried everything, followed through every step-by-step procedure, from soundcard driver updating to settings, but audio lag in mic is still here!! I'm getting almost a second of delay! Mic is connected to soundcards rear panel mic input and I'm getting my sound through the coaxial output of my soundcard connected to the amplifier and then to the speakers. Here is the dxdiag below

First please update to the latest Realtek HD Audio driver. You can download it from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Then follow these steps to see if the hardware loopback is supported.

Open the audio control panel.

Select the Speakers, then click properties.

Click the Levels tab

If you don't see a volume control for Microphone or Line In, then there isn't a hardware loopback. You can try contacting your OEM/IHV to see if this can be enabled in another way.

BTW, that link: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/18112824/18235810.aspx#18235810  seemed to work for me. I am running Windows 7 (32 bit) on a Dell Latitude E4200.  I followed the instructions for Vista. It tells you to find a registry key called SpeakerHP, i could only find HpOut and Speaker1, so i added the value to both of those and rebooted.  Now i have a microphone option on my levels tab on the properties from my speaker...which also plays in my headphones, WONDERFUL!  No delay.  But seriously microsoft needs to fix the feature "Listen to.." on the microphone...i should not have to edit my registry or be dependent on my hardware driver for this sort of mic monitoring / voice feedback feature.

This worked for me.

I tried creating the new binary entries "EnableInputMonitor" under settings, Speaker aswell as HpOut. Didnt work

But then there was an opton "DisableMicInFromRender" under speaker. Its binary was set to 01. I changed it to 00

• restarted the computer and when i checked the properties for speaker (playback) i could see a new section for Mic Volume.. Unmuted the volume.. and there was no delay at all.. while playing the guitar.

Also i didnt have to check the "listen to " option under the ext mic,,, recorder section.. -- pretty useless now.
