Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording. This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo. Anyone else having this problem?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

HTOmega Claro+ sound card

E6600 Intel CPU

6 gigs of RAM

Nvidia GTX 280 video card

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

where is cris-microsoft. can you help us with the idt aodio codecs it seems pretty easy to be able to go into volume control speaker properties listen and unmute the mic. but we dont all have that option so how hard would it be to make it happen. please dont make go back to xp or have to run a dual boot with win 7 or have to take back my new notebook.

I have the same problem. I am absolutely shocked to find apparently nobody in the world seems to have an answer to this and that Microsoft doesn't seem the slightest bit concerned. What a joke, I'm going Mac from this day forward.

I'm having the same trouble as everyone Else. For gods Sake Microsoft pull your finger out and fix this Damn Problem. I Say Fix the Problem or give everyone there money back!!!

I'm so angry with this problem right now, if Microsoft was a person i think i would have to Punch that person for being so annoying! Sadly it is a company which means it might be a bit harder to eliminate and get my money back.

Well i might as Well go and get a mac if this problem keeps on and ill Ask all other musicians to do the same if they are having problems. at least Macs don't seem to have such stupid problems like this!!
