Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording.  This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo.  Anyone else having this problem?

HTOmega Claro+ sound card

E6600 Intel CPU

6 gigs of RAM

Nvidia GTX 280 video card

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

    This is Not. Hardware problem !!!!! You would think for the literally billions of dollars spen on microsofts products and all they claim to be they would if nothing else offer a simple patch for download..typical cooperate nonsense.

    It is the 18th of January 2015 and the MIC delay is still not fixed in Windows 7, the issue exists in Windows 8 and also in Windows 8.1. I believe it is going to be there in Windows 10 too. I wonder why Microsoft? Or is it coz your micro < when it comes to > Software!?... Maybe?!!!

    I have found the fix to this problem first go to www.asio4all.com then download and install. Read the instruction pdf that comes with it and follow the instructions. This worked for me and my friends. I am back to recording with no delay!!! 

    I just tried that myself, and no luck.  Got this Win7 machine from a friend; it's an HP p7 Pavilion with IDT HD audio coded onboard, 64-bit O/S, and it is producing the same delay I've read about for a long time.  I agree, downgrading back to XP may solve this, as I NEVER had any problems with Sonar 4 PE in XP...
