Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording.  This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo.  Anyone else having this problem?

HTOmega Claro+ sound card

E6600 Intel CPU

6 gigs of RAM

Nvidia GTX 280 video card

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

    I'm having the same trouble as everyone Else. For gods Sake Microsoft pull your finger out and fix this Damn Problem.  I Say Fix the Problem or give everyone there money back!!!

    I'm so angry with this problem right now, if Microsoft was a person i think i would have to Punch that person for being so annoying! Sadly it is a company which means it might be a bit harder to eliminate and get my money back.

    MICROSOFT!!!!!!! SORT IT OUT!!!!!!

    Well i might as Well go and get a mac if this problem keeps on and ill Ask all other musicians to do the same if they are having problems. at least Macs don't seem to have such stupid problems like this!!

    Thanks a lot my friend, that worked great for me, it completely took care of my latency problem with the microphone input which I use to plug in my guitar and jam with music or along with Cubase.  Now I have to tell my wife so she can fix her laptop and now she'll be able to do her Karaoke again... or maybe I shouldn't tell her just yet, oh well. 

    But thanks again, but I did just happen to have the Realtek onboard sound so I'm not sure this would work for just anyone.

    Nice to see microsoft are burrying their heads in the sand with this 

    I miss xp and i feel microsoft has forced aload of useless new features on us that you can't control or turn off

    All the problems i've had with windows 7

    XP clear screen, windows 7 blurred text  clear text = rubbish

    xp good sound, windows 7 useless

    All i wanted was direct x 11 and memory support for 8 gig of ram, shame i didn't get that with xp ! :( 

    I think in the desinging of windows 7 and looking for new customers, they have lost touch with the core windows users and ease of use

    like the network icon on xp that showed you the amount of bytes you were using on network. windows 7 it gone to a more complicated network tool that stupid.

    If microsoft sold cars, they would sell them with out wheels and you'd have to download them 2 months later as a fix, or in the case of sound not at all

    I suggest we start a petition to make microsoft listen to their windows users  

    Cause clearly the products doesn't work and meet the requirement of the users like it should. This sound issue is clearly something that should of never of happend and clearly some one should be fired

    worked quite fine for me.

    I've just recently bought a new desktop pc with win7 64 and tried to connect my e-drums (as i did with my previous WinXP laptop). But that 500ms lag made it just impossible to play...
