Hi, I'm a bit new. I've been studying this thread as my computer went haywire Tuesday. Same things that everyone here is describing. Windows explorer just starts after displaying an error message. Tuesday, this was going on every few minutes. I found
this thread and first tried 'Shekhar S' suggestion of 11/27/09 in regard to pulling the compy up in safe mode. Did that. Still shut down. I took the next step and disabled all the startup programs that were suggested. The compy ran great like that. No
more trouble. I was thinking I was going to have to do a destructive recovery until I ran across 'xdozx' suggestion to remove Mozilla. This made perfect sense, since Mozilla had been locking up and shutting down everytime I tried to download a file of any
sort for weeks before. So, I got rid of Mozilla and several other programs that were nonessentials and that I hadn't used in some time.
The compy seemed to do great. Last night, however, windows explorer did it's restart 1 time. This morning, it did it one time, so far.
I then tried 'johnisme' suggestion of 10/19/10 of running sfc/scannow in the command prompt window. My computer detected no abnormalities. I was going to try 'Superg05' suggestion of 7-14-10 to copy "explorer.exe" from 'Windows' folder to the Windows/System32
folder. I can't find explorer.exe. the only thing I can find is an application and it only says explorer.
I should have put this before. I'm running a toshiba sattelite A215-S6816 laptop that came with Windows Vista 32-bit and was upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit a few months back. This compy is fantastic and I haven't had any trouble out of her.
What I was going to say before that commercial break was that if the thing I'm supposed to be moving is an application or a file? If it's a file, I can't find it, which is probably why I'm still having some trouble.
If someone has any other suggestions, I'd appreciate it. I've got a lot of stuff on this computer that I'd have to backup if I was going to go the way of a destructive recovery, but I've had to do that before, too. I just don't relish it. So, if I can
get this squared away without reinstalling windows 7, I would be a very happy camper.
Thank you ahead, because I know you all will make any suggestions you can think of to help.
