so yeah you've probably gathered my problem from my title.

i have an integrated intel graphics chip (interestingly enough the intel control pane,l through which i used to control the majority of the devices functions, did not survive the upgrade... it is nowhere to be found)

so i've updated the drivers, and checked the playback devices, and my hdmi cables are plugged in

i get video but no audio, and am not sure i am just missing something simple.

eitherway i've done a lot of searching and have yet to find an answer any help would be much appreciated!

Hello spedlifeshow,

The issue here can be one of several issues, the following may apply:

  • The HDMI graphics card may support HDMI Video, but may not support HDMI Audio
  • You may need to set the HDMI audio device as the default sound device
  • You may need to update your HDMI video card drivers for your version of Windows
  • If your HDMI video card does not support audio, you may need to connect additional audio cables between the PC and TV

For the steps for some of these issues see the following No sound tutorial (look on the Check your Hardware tab under HDMI cables).

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/no-sound-in-windows

Hope this helps

LD.

Your advise is useless, I hope your not getting paid for this. Who is your supervisor, or do you have to push me enough to get together a paper trail big enough to get you replaced. I would suggest you do your job and assist these people in getting the answers they are seeking. This isn't a specific driver issue. You should escalate this to someone who earns their paycheck.

Having the same issue as everyone one else where no audio is coming through the hdmi connection but here is the odd thing.  Earlier in the year when the beta for 7 came out, no issues with the audio through hdmi.  Since then, I have done a factory restore on my Sony vgn-fz260e but nothing else with drivers.  Now that the retail version of 7 is out, i'm running into this issue.  Updated all the video and sound drivers off of Sony's site (cause the drivers from Nvidia for my geforce 8400m gt says that they are already updated) didn't help.  I'm noticing that a lot of people ran into this with RC but not much now that the retail version is out.  Just checking if anyone has some more ideas.

For those with Nvidia.... This may sound super simple but what fixed the issues for me was moving the cable to the other connection. For what ever reason the newer drivers dont recognize the output I had used for years.

    OS: win7 pro x64

    Dell XPS M1530 - 8600GT

I have the same problem, I have no hdmi audio on a TV philips (but if I was on a monitor-tv samsung)

The solution was "un-update" the newest driver from Nvidia, install again the version that came with the pc (http://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R200184.EXE ).

    it works for me.

    (sorry for my english)
