Unable to change Windows 7 Starter wallpaper!

I laugh at these kind of computer questions. If you want to change the wallpaper background in Windows 7 all you half to do is, even in xp is to copy, drag a personal picture, a jpeg image, whatever to the actual Windows folder. After thats done close out of it, right click on the desktop, properties, Desktop, find your image then hit apply, It's that simple. Even though Windows 7 looks a lot like a linux program built on the vista architecture the attributes are the same even with xp, which the general population has really gotten used to. The main problem I've found is hardware drivers running on slightly older computers running xp. They have a problem running on Windows 7, you half to find drivers that are designed for Windows 7. I'd like to read some thoughts on this Thanx.

So how can I remove the entire image, and replace it with a grey background? Does this have to be an image also?

While I'm at it, how about a way to change the kiddy-blue windows to silver?

I understand that windows 7 starter is stripped down so supposedly it doesn't use too many resources, however I had windows 3.1 on my 486 33mhz desktop in 1991  and it had enough resources for wall paper and screensavers and it had substantially less resources than my wifes netbook with 1gig of Ram and a 250 gig hardrive, If i remember correctly it only had 4mb of ram and 200mb harddrive and it still ran wallpaper and screensavers.

Maybe Microsoft should cut back on some of cutsy annoying animated graphics! I had no problems with DOS with a blank screen and a C: prompt. The programmers should try to design programs that do not exhaust hardware resources but minimize resources but of course if they did that then folks wouldn't have to upgrade their computers. It is my opinion that Microsoft gets a kickback from the hardware manufacturers for desinging graphic intense software that makes your computer operate more slowly so every 2 to 3 years you have to buy a new computer. 

I bought a netbook for my wife because she mostly wants to use the internet but she still wants to personalize her netbook i.e. wall paper and a screensaver that scrolls through our pictures. Now she is pissed at me because she cant personalize her netbook instead of being pissed at Microsoft.

Microsoft should be extremely embarrased and ashamed of the fact that they left this out.  I believe it is a sales ploy to get users to pay for the upgrade to Windows 7 so they can have the wallpaper and a screensaver. 

I am considering going to an apple on my next purchase and that is terrible because I have been a DOS/Windows user since the early 90's.

Microsoft should offer a free download to add wallpaper and screensavers  for us poor folks that got ripped because we bought a netbook.

just wanting to be constructive, this feature seems easy to implement and its absence is ____ off a lot of people, release a patch please
